Folk & Traditional Arts in Education
Folk & Traditional Arts in Education (FTAIE) offers in-class residencies led by tradition bearers in music, dance, crafts, oral expression, and other art forms at no cost to schools.
How it Works:
Choose an artist.
Interested teachers choose from our selection of folk artists and are then matched with someone who will enhance what students are learning and/or complement the curriculum through residencies.
Determine residency length.
Residencies include anywhere from three to five days of workshops, but can extend up to 30.
We work with the selected artist on developing a plan for the residency, followed by a planning meeting with the teacher in which they advise about areas their students might be interested in and make suggestions about what should be emphasized to make the presentation especially meaningful.
Prepare students for the lessons ahead!
The artist you choose will provide background information and supplemental materials so that students can receive a preview of the program.
